The Department of Dermatology was started in Institute of Medical Science & SUM Hospital in August, 2005 with an objective of service to all the socioeconomic strata of the Society. The Dept. boasts to be the first in Orissa to have the whole body Narrow-band phototherapy unit which takes care of a wide spectrum of Dermatological conditions including Prorium & Vitilogo. The Dept. runs a Leprosy clinic in collarbotion with the State run Leprosy programme and supplies free Medicines to newly detected, poor Leprosy patients. All the latest technologies including CO2 laser, Radiofrequency Cautery, Cryo Surgery , Digital Iontophoresis are available in the department. With the increasing load of cosmetic surgery, the department works hand in hand with the department of Plastic Surgery to provide services like hair transplatation, scar revision , surgical and non-surgical face lifts etc. It is understood that with the available technology, manpower and skill this department is one of the best in its class in the whole eastern region of the country.
